Abstract

This article focuses on the transformation of the Geonic Responsa during the Middle Ages. Using a responsum by Rav Saadia Gaon (10th century, Baghdad) as a case study, we will follow the shifts made in the responsum from the first stage as a response to a query, to its adoption in a monographic style. The paper also uses comparative research with the responsa of Islamic culture.
